WINGATE AND FINCHLEY WIN THE REAL NORTH LONDON DERBY

Experienced midfielder Steve Wales scored the only goal of a largely forgettable game on 68 minutes to earn three valuable points and the local bragging rights for Wingate and Finchley in the Ryman Premier Division against Enfield Town. It was a real scrappy affair with the goal and Town's Dernell Wynter having a shot well saved by Shane Gore just after half time the only real memorable goal mouth action. With so may of the previous games between the two local rivals being action and incident packed this one will go down as one to forget especially for The Towners.

FANS BUT NO FLAGS TODAY FOR WINGATE BUT THEY ALL WENT HOME VERY HAPPY
MARK KIRBY WITH FORMER TOWNER CALUDIO VILCU
Well done to Wingate and Finchley who for once had more fans than flags today as there were none on display from their travelling supporters. The win is their third in a row away from home in the league (1-4 at Worthing, 0-1 at Harrow Borough and today's win) and puts an end to Town's unbeaten home record this season. Former Town fan's favourite Claudio Vilcu was given a great reception by the home supporters after the game - He was making his second appearance for his new club and looks to be forming an impressive partnership with experienced Sean Cronin at centre-back for The Blues.

It's not all doom and gloom for Enfield Town as  looking at the table a victory at Kingstonian on Monday evening could see us move up eighth place ahead of Billericay Town!

With some hard work and graft both on the pitch and off it on the training ground it is my belief the team and squad assembled by Bradley Quinton can start pushing up the table.

Hendon (3-0 at Boreham Wood), Billericay Town (3-1 at Maidstone United), Burgess Hill Town (0-5 at home to Dover Athletic) and Tonbridge (0-3 at home to Dartford) were all knocked out with Harrow Borough in the hat after drawing 2-2 with Margate - they face a mid-week replay in Kent.
