FC ST JOHNS COMPLETE HITCHIN SUNDAY LEAGUE DIVISION TWO DOUBLE

FC St Johns had already wrapped up the Division Two title in the Hitchin Sunday League with an excellent playing record of eighteen victories in twenty games played - their only defeat coming against their opponents on Sunday night's Division Two Cup Final. Stotfold Lions defeated them 3-1 earlier in the season so it set up the game played at Arlesey Town into an eagerly anticipated encounter watched by a decent crowd of noisy friends, family and followers of local football.

Part of the game in the second half was played in a real downpour of rain and also a little bit of thunder and fork lightning in the distance.

FC St Johns won with three goals scored in the second half via two goals from Ethan Taylor and one own goal. Taylor is described as 'Likes to think he could of made it pro if it wasn't for injuries, now just turns to finals to show off' - he didn't do too bad in this game thankfully for FC St Johns.  The second goal came a few minutes after their goalkeeper made a outstanding save from a close range Stotfold shot and only a few moments after a clearance off the line - had one of these chances gone in Stotfold could well of gone on and won the game. Both teams can be proud of some great football played in good spirits. The move put together by The Lions in the first half could be described as 'like watching Brazil' - see from   on the highlights below.

Stotfold Lions are making steady progress finishing 5th in 2013/14, 4th in 2014/15 and on course to finish in 3rd position or maybe even 2nd with games in hand over Royal Oak and Ickleford Sports and Social Club.

So it was FC St John's Captain Ethan Haynes who lifted the Trophy first lifted by 'Two Chimneys' in 1979. 'Mon The Biff' won a great match in 2013 against 'Jagerbombers' which you can see here
