CLASSY CLUNIS SHINES FOR HAMLET WHO RETURN TO WINNING WAYS

Enfield Town who were missing defender and captain Mark Kirby, midfielder Aryan Tajbakhsh and recent signing/goal scoring hero Bobby Devyne in their starting XI against title chasing Dulwich Hamlet in Tuesday evening's game. Gavin Rose's side came into the game on the back of a rare defeat (at Hampton and Richmond) on Saturday with Town famously winning at Maidstone United on the same day.

Town started well and had plenty of the ball in the first ten minutes but gradually the South London side found their stride and dominated most of the game from therein. Every Hamlet player looked confident on the ball at all times none more so than Nyren Clunis who caused Town no end of problems on the left wing. Luke Wanadio on the right also put in a very decent performance for his team. It was Clunis who set up Hamlet's all important goal with a lightning quick burst of speed which left the Town back line for dust and his cross was bundled into the net by Captain Terrell Forbes.

Nathan McDonald made a string of impressive saves to keep Town in with a chance during the 90 minutes - it was good to see the Dulwich fans giving him a round of applause at the end of the game. Town certainly didn't disgrace themselves and could of scored in the second half when Corey Whitely weaved through the Hamlet defence but his shot was well save by the arm of keeper Phil Wilson. There were certainly many positives for Bradley Quinton to take into the game against Metropolitan Police on Saturday.

Sometimes though, as in the home game last season versus Hamlet, you have to hold your hands up and say the best team with a fantastic player in their ranks (last season it was Erhun Oztumer!) fully deserved the three points.

The win moves Dulwich up to second place in the table - Maidstone United with two games in hand and a four point cushion will still be considered big favourites for the title. Hamlet next play Grays Athletic at Champion Hill on Saturday afternoon.
