TWO LATE GOALS SEAL WIN FOR WINGATE U21s IN NORTH LONDON DERBY

The player's line up at a sparsely populated Harry Abrahams Stadium
Every Enfield Town fan has the unfortunate knowledge that Wingate's first team have secured all six points available over their North London rival's this season to the delight of the loyal band of supporters at The Harry Abrahams Stadium so it was down to the Town u21's/reserve side to restore some pride and gain a little bit of revenge on Tuesday evening as both sides faced off in a Ryman u21 North Division game.

Town included a number of players who have featured in the first team of late with Phil Kane, Taylor Hastings, Theo Jones, Stephen Hamilton-Forbes and Neil Cousins all in the starting XI.

It was a highly entertaining game for the few people who ventured out to into the chilly conditions. Most of the Town fans opted for the longer trip for the first team Middlesex Charity Cup game at Ashford Town (Middlesex).

Town started well with an effort cleared off the line but gradually the home side came back into the game rattling the post with an impressive shot from outside of the box and went 1-0 up shortly after. Town came back with James Winchester's attacking midfield play standing out - The half time score was 1-2 with Town looking strong but Wingate scored two late goals to win the game. Their third goal came after a mix-up at the back by Town who so nearly made it 3-3 when a turn and shot from Neil Cousins struck the post.

The return game is scheduled to be played at Donkey Lane on Wednesday 11th February. Can Enfield Town get some local pride back with a victory or can Wingate make a clean sweep of games against their local rivals?
