DIVISION THREE CUP GLORY FOR COTTERED RESERVES

COTTERED RESERVES V WATTON-AT-STONE RES
Match played on Friday 5th April 2013

The Hertford and District League Division Three Cup Final was played on Friday night in front of decent crowd at the Hertfordshire FA County Ground in Letchworth.

Cottered Reserves had qualified for the final by beating Buntingford Wanderers Reserved 10-0 in Round One, Westwell 3-1 in Round Two and Rebwood Green (who sometimes feature Enfield Town supporting @ScrappyStu within their ranks so they must be good!) 4-0 in the semi-final. Watton-At-Stone Res had beaten Elizabeth Allen Old Boys A 4-0, Westmill Reserves 3-1 and their local rivals Ware Lions Old Boys on penalty kicks in a what sounded a classic semi-final game which ended 3-3 AET.

This game pitted 1st v 3rd in the league table and it was a closely fought out encounter. Cottered went into a 2-0 lead via a good finish and a deflected goal shortly after (but was their a handball in the build up....see from 2m 5secs on the video....many of the crowd shouted for it but from looking at it I don't think it was) Credit goes to the Watton team who really dug deep on a chilly night to fight back into the game and they pulled a goal back just after the break following a comedy goalkeeping error by the Cottered keeper. Prior to the break Watton had a great shout for a penalty kick when one of their players was brought down in the box. Looking back at it (see from 4m 30secs) I'm sure the Cottered team will think they got away with that ome as the referee waved play on after what looked like a clear foul in the area.

ONE OF THE BEST GOALMOUTH SCRAMBLES EVER!!

The second half also saw one of the best goal mouth scrambles I have ever witnessed. How the ball stayed out of the net I really don't know? What a simply brilliant stop on the line by the Cottered player but again was it a touch of handball by their number 4 (see from 8m 20secs)

Cottered settled the outcome with a third goal late on to make the final score 3-1 in a very entertaining game played in a good spirit by both teams.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
including all four goals scored are below

As you can see from the league table both sides are still in with a shout of the Division Three title along with Nazeing Reserves. This Saturday Cottered Reserves (whom are still unbeaten in the league) travel to Nazeing Reserves whilst Watton go to King William who are currently 4th in the table.
