ENFIELD 1893 FC EDGE OUT COLNEY HEATH IN PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY

BRITISH SUMMER TIME???
PRE-SEASON FRIENDLIES ARE USUALLY PLAYED IN THE BLAZING HOT SUNSHINE.
NO CHANCE HERE....THE BROLLIES WERE OUT & PEOPLE SHELTERED UNDER THE NEARBY TREES
Colney Heath of the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division entertained Enfield 1893 FC from the Essex Senior League on a wet Tuesday evening in Hertfordshire. This was the first time The Cold End had seen the club formed in 2007 play aside from the Middlesex Charity Cup game against Enfield Town two seasons ago.

The game was played on the second pitch at Colney Heath's ground with the main pitch only partly marked at present and no goals in place.

It was an entertaining game as rain poured down during most of the first half with it brightening up a little in the second period. 1893, now managed by Gordon Boateng, looked a good side taking a 0-3 lead into the half time break. It really was a game of two halves as Colney Heath fielded a completely different side (and kit...red and white stripes in the first and bright orange in the second) in the second half with the visitors also making a raft of changes as both managers took a chance to run the rule over a number of players.

Colney brought the game back to 2-3, one through a penalty kick from a handball in the box, only for 1893 to score a late goal, which was nearly cleared off the line by a home defender, to make it 2-4.
