ANOTHER WIN AT THE LANE

The Metropolitan Police came, Hendon came, Margate came and on Saturday Thamesmead Town crossed the River Thames to visit  Donkey Lane. All four of these Ryman Premier Division teams have one thing in common - they left without a victory as Enfield Town are currently TOP OF THE TABLE...the home table that is with three wins and one draw from the four games played.  Of course it's just as easy for teams to lose games in a row as quickly so us Town fans have our feet firmly on the ground particularly as our away form is the complete opposite! Together with Cray Wanderers we are the only teams without a point on our travels.

It was good to see ex Towner Daniel Ailey back at Donkey Lane. He came on as a second half substitute for The Mead

Saturday afternoon's game was a scrappy opening twenty minutes with the visitor's taking an early lead from John Scarborough to the delight of their ultra-loyal travelling army of four fans behind the goal. Enfield Town then dominated the game with Tyler Campbell's performance standing out. Town ended up 3-1 winners with Hope, Campbell and Wallace scoring but it could of been a few more with the woodwork coming to Thamesmead's goalkeeper Rob Budd on two occasions. All in all a decent afternoon for Enfield Town with lots more hard work to be put in for the forthcoming games away at Canvey Island, Bury Town and in the magic of the FA Cup at St Albans City.
