ANOTHER WIN FOR KINGS LANGLEY

It was 15th plays 1st at Chalk Lane this afternoon as Cockfosters entertained Kings Langley in the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division. It's been a somewhat difficult season for the home side as there was mass exodus of players following the successful management team of Mick Roche and Fabio Valenti leaving the club in November.

Although they didn't create many clear cut goal scoring opportunities this afternoon Paul Boxer's young side can be proud of their performance as they battled extremely well against a highly organised and very good Kings Langley side this afternoon. They included ex Enfield Town youth player's James Winchester, James Bex and Max Harrowell in their starting XI. Chikosi Basden (number 7) who has recently joined the club showed some good skill on the ball in the first half before being substituted early in the second half.

In Alex Campana Kings Langley possess a player who can easily play at a higher level (and has*) and he was the stand out player scoring two goals - the second of which was a classy finish on the volley from a great pacey ball whipped in from the right hand side. TheColdEnd was also impressed with the away side's centre back pairing of Jon Munday and Joe Debayo. Debayo is only twenty years old and has played for Daventry Town and Hemel Hempstead Town this season and signed for Langley in January. He is definitely another player who could make the step up to a higher level with strength and pace in abundance - He has spent time with the academies at QPR, Fulham, Chelsea, Wycombe Wanderers and Stoke City. Their other two goals were scored by Mitchell Weiss - the first of which was a very brave header (as you'll see from the video) and the second was a great finish after some skill in nutmegging a Foster's defender.

* He started his career at Watford from 2005-2008 but never made a first team appearance and then moved on to Wealdstone, Thurrock, Enfield Town and Hemel Hempstead Town before moving to Kings Langley. As an Enfield Town I remember him being one of the best players during the 2008/09 season when Town were managed by Stewart Margolis in the Ryman League Division One (North).
