MONSOON CONDITIONS WELCOME PRE-SEASON 2014/15

GERMANY ARE NOT THE ONLY FOOTBALL TEAM TO WIN 1-7 ON 8th JULY 2014
TAKING SHELTER - THE SMALL CROWD LAST NIGHT
Codicote kicked off their 2014/15 campaign by welcoming Wingate and Finchley to The John Clements Memorial Ground on Tuesday evening. The game kicked off in monsoon conditions and the rain belted down on and off for most of the ninety minutes. The majority of the small crowd that were in attendance had to take shelter in the small covered area at the ground.

Wingate and Finchley were much the better side but the final score of 1-7 was a little harsh on the home side as The Blues ran in three late goals to make it not the only 1-7 scoreline of the night! As usual with pre-season games there were lots of substitutes with W&F making nine at half time and changing their kit from orange to white.

Wingate's goals were scored by David Knight, Karl Oliyide, Nico Muir, Jack Read (3) and Gavid Suddell,

Oliyide and Muir are a couple of the new players for the blues this season with both being at Calor League Division One (Central) Northwood in 2013/14. Oliyide scored 17 goals in 30 matches. He has been with the Reading FC academy as well as Oxhey Jets as a youngster. He has also represented Icelandic team Leiknir Reykjavik in between being released by Reading and joining up with Northwood. Muir had another impressive strike rate scoring 28 goals in 43 appearances. He has represented Hendon and Grays Athletic previously.

Some match highlights are below including some the goals scored. Not all are included as the cold end camera wasn't a fan of the wet weather. Also juggling an umbrella and a camera was a little tricky!
