ENFIELD TOWN v BARNET PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY ANNOUNCED

Ryman Premier Division Enfield Town have announced that they will face League Two side Barnet in a pre-season friendly on Saturday 16th July. The is an historical rivalry between the two sets of supporters stretching back to the famous Conference games of the 1980s played mostly on Boxing Day and New Years Day between the old Enfield FC and The Bees.

It was 1991 when a side representing Enfield last played Barnet in a competitive fixture when The Bees (then in Division Four) visited Southbury Road in an FA Cup Second Round tie which they won 1-4. They went on to play Charlton Athletic in the third round where they lost 3-1.

Martin Allen's side finished in 15th place in League Two last season on their return to the football league. Barnet's website has listed the game as a reserve fixture so I'm not sure what sort of side they will be sending to Donkey Lane.

The Bee's have three home friendly games arranged so far against Ipswich Town on Wednesday 13th July, Gillingham on Saturday 23rd July and Oxford United on Saturday 30th July.

Barnet also have friendly games arranged at Cheshunt (9th July), Tooting and Mitcham (26th July), Ashford Town (30th July) and Met Police (1st August).
