FA VASE BETTING - 2013/14

The FA Vase is down to the last sixty-four and there is no surprises betvictor.com make Northern League West Auckland Town and Spennymoor Town the 5/2 favourites and 7/2 second favourites.

The Northern League has provided the last five winners of the competition including Spennymoor Town who won 2-1 versus Tunbridge Wells last season.

They are closely followed by United Counties League Premier Division pace-setter's Spalding United at 5/1. In their league games The Tulips have an amazing record this season having won all of the sixteen league games played scoring 59 and letting in just 4 goals in the process. They entertian UCL rival's Wisbech Town in the next round in a game which is sure to attract a decent crowd in Lincolnshire.

The highest rated Step Six team is Plymouth Parkway of the South West Peninsula Premier Division who are rated at 50/1. There are some good odds to be had with Hanwell Town's chances rated at 125/1 which compared to Welwyn Garden City's of 66/1 is somewhat confusing. Regular readers will know Welwyn are a favourite of The Cold End but they play in Division One of the SSMFL compared to Hanwell who are in the Premier Division. They are currently in second place behind Ampthill Town (rated at 33/1) and could go top if they win the four games in hand they currently have. This is further illustrated in the fact Hanwell have a home game against Lordswood (currently fifth in the Southern Counties East League) in the next round and The Citizens go to Eastern Counties Premier Division table topper's Hadleigh United. So at 125/1 Hanwell Town....are they worth a bet?

There are some fantastic games in the Third Round and none more so at Hillheads Park when Whitley Bay (winners 2009, 2010 and 2011) entertain local rival's Dunston UTS (winners in 2012). The Bay beat The Fed (as Dunston are known) in the 2010/11 Quarter-Final so this bound to be a highly competative game.
