HODDY OR FOSTERS???? - A MASSIVE WEEK IN LOCAL FOOTBALL

The race to finish second in the Spartan South Midlands League Division One will be finished this coming weekend with two local clubs in Hoddesdon Town and Cockfosters involved to end the season in the one remaining official promotion place behind already crowned champion's London Lions.

SPARTAN SOUTH MIDLANDS LEAGUE - DIVISION ONE CURRENT TABLE
TOP THREE ONLY
POS TEAM P W GD PTS PP FORM
1 LONDON LIONS 37 30 +86 94 103 WWWWWW
2 HODDESDON TOWN 39 28 +52 88 91 LWWWWW
3 COCKFOSTERS 37 26 +77 84 93 WLWWLD

The situation is simple for Cockfosters in that if they win all three of their remaining games against Codicote (@ home on Tuesday), Chesham United Reserves (@ home on Thursday) and away at Winslow United on Saturday they will finish on 93 points and in second place.

Hoddesdon Town have one remaining game away at Langford on Saturday which they should win, as the home side have only won one game in their last twenty-six. This would put The Lillywhites on 91 points with a current goal difference of +52.

Cockfosters can afford to drop points in one of their games as long as it's only a draw. If they win two and draw one it would see them finish on 91 points with a current goal difference of +77 meaning Hoddy would have to beat Langford by a score line of up to 25-0.

If your an Enfield Tow fan I can only recommend you pop along to Cockfosters on Thursday night as you'll see some familiar faces already mentioned on The Cold End playing for the home side.

Meanwhile, at the foot of the table it's been a very long season for New Bradwell St Peter who travel to Southall on Saturday in which a defeat or a draw would see them complete the forty game season without a solitary victory. They have also conceded 166 goals in their 39 games played so far!! The highlights have been draws home and away at Winslow United as well as against Chesham United Res, Amersham Town and Langford.

It hasn't been all doom and gloom at The Recreation Ground as they have beaten Premier Division Hatfield Town away in the first round if the Challenge Trophy before being beaten 1-6 by Haringey Borough in the second round. Also in the Berkshire and Buckinghamshire Intermediate Cup they won against Bedgrove Dynamos (2-0), Aylesbury Reserves (4-3), Bedgrove United (0-4) before being knocked out by Grendon Rangers (0-2) in the fourth round of the competition. The two Bedgrove clubs compete in the Aylesbury and District League Premier Division whilst Aylesbury Res compete in the SSMFL Division Two. Grendon Rangers play in the North Bucks & District Football League Premier Division.
