CRUNCH MATCH ON THE SOUTH COAST THIS WEEKEND

Table topper's Whitehawk host second placed Wealdstone this Saturday afternoon in what could be a pivotal match in the Ryman Premier Division title race. Win the game and The Hawks go ten points clear of The Stones who, if they lose, maybe replaced in second place by Concord Rangers who won 4-1 at home to Wingate and Finchley tonight. New signing Leon McKenzie, making his first start for The Beachboys, bagged a hat-trick along with another new signing Serge Makofo scoring the other.

McKenzie came on as substitute versus Enfield Town on Tuesday night and joins Concord from Blue Square South side AFC Hornchurch. Makofo joins from another Blue Square South side in Farnborough. He had previously played in the Conference for Grimbsy Town and has also played for Potters Bar Town, Halesowen Town and MK Dons to name but a few sides.

The Stones and The Hawks played out a 1-1 draw at Grosvenor Vale on Saturday 1st September in a game Whitehawk ended up with nine men in. Ryan James was red-carded and Sami El-Abd left the field injured when all three substitutes had been made. Josh James (Whitehawk) and Lee Chappell (Wealdstone) scored the goals in front of 402.

Concord welcome Hendon to Thames Road. Gary McCann's side lost their first game in ten on Tuesday night when Harrow Borough recorded a very welcome 1-2 victory. Lowestoft go to Earlsmead to play Harrow on Saturday.

If it's one in four teams for the title the race to beat the drop can be any team from Enfield Town (currently fifteenth place) downwards who could end up in the bottom two. Fourteenth placed Hampton and Richmond Borough's (who are Town's opponents on Saturday) and thirteenth placed Leiston have games in hand over the teams from fifteenth to nineteenth place so this should be enough to keep them safe. For Enfield Town it looks as though just a few more wins could make us safe but Steve Newing will know to take nothing for granted yet.

Hampton who were play-off contenders in the opening months of the season winning seven of their first thirteen games have dropped down into mid-table with only two wins in their last fourteen games (at Wingate and Finchley and Bury Town). Their last league home win (they haven't won in seven) came back on Saturday 13th October when they defeated Whitehawk 1-0.
